Tim spent his entire childhood in small towns in California, Arizona and Oklahoma where did traditional arm/ranch jobs; hauling hay, working cattle, and driving a tractor. At age fourteen, a local rancher commissioned him to paint a large landscape of a beloved mountain. She bought him his first oil paints and canvas as payment. So, he was never “an amateur painter”. Friends and family collected his art through his high school years during which sports competed fiercely with art for his time. He began doing sculptures after his freshman year of college. Trailsides Gallery consigned his work at age 19 in Scottsdale. He still finds pleasure in doing woodworking by building heirloom furniture pieces which are never for sale. He collects art of other artists and loves rustic antiques. He has resided in NWA since 2000.
Tim has remained west of the Mississippi throughout his life. While he was learning the craft of making fine art he worked as an illustrator for a fortune 500 company, as an oil refinery operating engineer, and as a journeyman carpenter. By age 30, he was married and had three of his eventual five children when he made the switch to becoming a full time artist. His artwork now has been exhibited in over fifty galleries nationwide from Cape Cod to California. Scores of Art Museums have shown his pieces. He began teaching workshops in 2001 nationally and has taught in Italy, France, Scotland and Ireland. |
