2017 saw me turning my focus from watercolors to acrylics. 2018 has brought success with my painting efforts, garnering the Mayors Award at Shadows-on-the-Teche in March. 1st Place Acrylics, Artists'Choice and People's Choice at Augusta Plein Air, as well as Third Place in Acrylics during April. May saw Paint KC awarding me the coveted One Park Place Award and Juror Josh Been giving me the highest Award of Merit at Outdoor Painters Society PASW in Rockport, TX. Most recently I was awa rded "Finalist" in the Paintingcontest.org. I can't wait to see what the rest of the year holds in store.
I begin the process of creation with a concept sparked by something I have seen or experienced. Ideas that are most appealing to me make the final journey to the paper or canvas. I love painting from life, however, my goal is not to create a snapshot of the scene, rather the essence of a particular moment in time. In keeping with my goal to find better ways to create my art I periodically try different color palettes that will best capture the final image I visualize.
