Contact: OA Gallery Telephone: 314-821-6241 Email: OAGallery2@gmail.com Website: OAGalleryOnline.com OA Gallery presents, Bryan Haynes’ For My Eyes Only - Works in Pursuit of an Illusive Masterpiece OA Gallery is excited to announce an extraordinary and exclusive exhibition of over 100 original works on paper and canvas by Missouri artist Bryan Haynes. For My Eyes Only - Works in Pursuit of an Illusive Masterpiece showcases the preliminary acrylic sketches and studies Bryan used to develop his early concepts into the final artworks familiar to and loved by collectors. Never meant to be seen by anyone but the artist, these paintings reveal the thought process of an artist pursuing an original idea. This unique event will be the first time these works have ever been placed on display or offered up for acquisition to the public. “In choosing which images to display, I got to take a visual stroll through the inner history of Bryan’s work,” said Shawn Cornell, partner of OA Gallery. “It was inspiring to figuratively hold his thoughts in my hands.”
For My Eyes Only - Works in Pursuit of an Illusive Masterpiece will be on display from March 3 - April 29, 2017. Opening night is Friday, March 3, from 6-9 and will include a book signing, “Growing Up With the River” illustrated by Bryan Haynes. The cover artwork and ten interior illustrations created for the book will also grace the gallery’s walls.
About Bryan Haynes Born in Missouri, Bryan Haynes has quickly become an extremely well-known and admired artist across the country. Historical figures, Native Americans and local characters inhabit the sweeping landscapes of his narrative paintings. Influenced from an early age by American Regionalist painters Thomas Hart Benton and Grant Wood, Haynes’s landscape and historical paintings are characterized by sculptural forms, undulating lines, and rhythmic gestures. These paintings celebrate local history and people often ignored in the cultural centers of urban America.
Since graduating from the Art Center College of Design in 1983 his artwork has been represented in New York, San Francisco, St. Louis, Kansas City, and Santa Fe. Recent corporate and institutional commissions include murals and large scale paintings for; The Kauffman Foundation in Kansas City, The Missouri Botanical Garden’s permanent collection, The Westward Expansion Memorial Museum at the Arch, Novus International Inc., and the Danforth Plant Science Center.
“Whatever it is, Bryan Haynes creates art that is sublimely beautiful, art that stirs emotions in the viewer,” said Bob Moore, National Park Historian. “He is part Thomas Hart Benton, with a dash of George Catlin, Grant Wood, Joe Jones, N. C. Wyeth and any number of other great artists. But to compare his style to that of others does him a discredit, for his work is in many ways unique and stands apart from any other artist.” Visitor Information OA Gallery is open four days a week, Wednesday–Saturday, 12–5 p.m., or by appointment.
