Linda is struck by the colors of everyday life. She uses her sketches of people or everyday objects to arrange them into simple compositions. She begins a process of breaking down the subject into blocks of vivid yet nuanced color with striking contrast. Whether she is depicting a person or a bottle of ketchup, she enjoys dissecting the colors and playing with the luscious paint using a brush, palette knife, or even smearing with her fingers. The final strokes of a successful painting hold the most excitement for Linda as she achieves her visual goal, interpreting colors and subjects with expression and energy.
Linda studied fine art, illustration, and graphic design at Florissant Valley Community College, in St. Louis. As a graphic designer for many years she used her fine art skills, continuing to sketch and paint daily and taught drawing and painting classes as well. Linda is a partner in Artgroup 360, a group of Midwest artists who meet regularly to discuss current art news, network, and exhibit together. |
