Henryk was born in Scunthorpe, England. As an only child he occupied himself by building and flying model airplanes, eventually designing them. Showing an early talent, he made drawings on scraps of wallpaper with lumps of coal beginning at age 3. By the age of 5 he received his first watercolor set.
Henryk orginally intended to be a draughtsman, but because he could draw and paint so well he became a technical illustrator through Saint Martins School in London. He did have a career as a designer and sculptor with several fiberglass companies. Meeting Robert Lenkiewicz in 1984 had an impact on Henryk as he realized the difficulties of making a career in art but was compelled to paint and sculpt. To further his career, Henryk came to America in 1999 and has been painting and sculpting ever since. He is widely regarded as one of St. Louis' finest artists. He is known for his exciting use of color and free painting style. |
